General Manager of HDRE Group

Jason Chou

HDRE strives to become a leading private smart power company. Through our “Golden Triangle” of power generation, energy storage, and electricity sales, combined with our TAITEN smart green power system, we are fully ready to meet the demand and supply of green electricity. We are dedicated to making “Smart Green, Accessible Green” a reality, and contributing to Taiwan’s 2050 net-zero transformation goals.

Chairman’s message

In 2024, the impacts of global climate change continued to escalate in ways the world can no longer ignore. The World Meteorological Organization reported that the global average temperature exceeded 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels for the first time — a milestone that reminds us that climate risks are no longer distant possibilities but an everyday reality. The implementation of the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) has further prompted global industries to reflect on their role and responsibility in this critical moment of transition.

As part of the green energy community, HDRE has always held firmly to the belief that development must coexist with ecology, and business must advance together with society. This belief guides us forward, especially in a year when uncertainty continues to test the resilience of every industry. In 2024, we strengthened our corporate sustainability governance by deepening alignment with international initiatives, fully integrating the TCFD and TNFD frameworks into our operations. Through a more rigorous approach to risk management, we aim to build an organization that is transparent, responsible, and truly prepared for the challenges ahead.

Our sustainability efforts extend beyond our own operations. We continue to collaborate with partners across the supply chain to advance green procurement and embed sustainability principles into daily practice. We believe that meaningful change must begin with action — and must be shared across the entire value chain to build lasting resilience.

In the area of social responsibility, we continued our long-term support for the Beautiful Taiwan 3D Association, bringing energy education to rural communities and nurturing a deeper understanding of sustainability among the younger generation. It is deeply encouraging to see these efforts recognized internationally. This year, HDRE received the APEA Outstanding Corporate Leadership Award, along with the Green Leadership Award and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Award at the AREA Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards. These honors are not merely symbols of external recognition — they reflect the dedication of every HDRE colleague who has contributed to our journey.

We also expanded our presence across the Asia-Pacific region, strengthening our ties with international partners. In Australia, we co-founded ZEBRE with ZEN Energy to accelerate the development of renewable energy and storage assets. In Japan, we formed strategic partnerships with Tokyu Fudosan and Mitsubishi Electric to explore innovative smart energy applications. Each collaboration represents our commitment to contributing practical green energy solutions while showcasing the strength and credibility of Taiwanese enterprises on the global stage.

Sustainability has never been a short race. It is a long and demanding journey — one that requires determination, patience, and a shared sense of purpose. As we look ahead, HDRE will continue to move forward with integrity, professionalism, and innovation, working hand in hand with all stakeholders to build a future defined not only by progress, but by shared prosperity and collective resilience.

Together, we will move toward a future that is cleaner, stronger, and more hopeful.

Message from the General Manager

HDRE positions itself as a smart power company, providing decarbonization solutions across three major domains—power generation, energy storage, and electricity retailing. We are committed to realizing the vision of “Smart Green Energy, Accessible Anytime”, supporting businesses and society in advancing toward a net-zero future.

In 2024, amid the dual challenges of climate change and structural shifts in the energy sector, we continued to strengthen our technological development and product integration capabilities while steadily expanding our presence in the Asia-Pacific region. In Australia, we jointly established the asset platform ZEBRE with local energy provider ZEN Energy, planning to invest in large-scale renewable energy and storage projects. With solar-storage-charging technologies developed in Taiwan, we aim to support the country’s energy transition and help build an energy system with regional resilience and renewable supply capacity.

In Japan, our efforts focused on smart energy applications and storage solutions. We continued advancing intelligent power trading technologies, enhancing market visibility and partnership opportunities, and launched charging-station deployment initiatives to help expand the region’s renewable infrastructure.

To support corporate users in their sustainability transition, HDRE continued deepening its green-power wheeling services and lowering barriers to renewable adoption through technological and regulatory innovation. By the end of 2024, we had accumulated 16.1 billion kWh of green-power wheeling contracts across more than 2,084 sites, and supported the issuance of over 99,392 Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs)—concrete actions that help enterprises achieve RE100 and net-zero targets.

Sustainable operations stem not only from product and service innovation, but also from strong governance and accountability. We continued promoting the Supplier Code of Conduct among our partners, implementing green procurement policies, and strengthening environmental assessments and ecological conservation during project operations. In Taiwan, we optimized site management based on the principle of “coexistence among livelihood, production, and ecology,” striving to reduce landscape disturbance during construction while balancing regional development with environmental protection.

As the energy transition continues to evolve, HDRE will remain focused on enhancing core technologies, refining service processes, and integrating sustainability into every product and project. Looking ahead, we will continue monitoring market trends and user needs, improving the flexibility and application of smart power systems, and helping more enterprises advance steadily and confidently along their energy transition journey.
